• What We Do

  • Recognized as an Accredited Chamber by the United States Chamber of Commerce and the Carolinas Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives, the Greater Sumter Chamber is the leading voice for business in Sumter and beyond. We represent over 1,000 member businesses, providing them with cutting edge products and services designed to help make the Sumter region a great place to live and do business. Over 90% of our membership base is small business with 50 employees or less, though Sumter is home to many manufacturing and industrial employers that employee 100 or more.

    Under the direction of the 20 business and community leaders who make up our Board of Directors, the Chamber's staff is dedicated to the organization's mission of Promoting and Ideal Business Environment Which Supports Growth. Along with the Sumter County Economic Development Board, the Chamber offers the following services to our various constituencies (services highlighted in blue are provided through the Economic Development Board).

  • New Business Recruitment

    • Market the region globally
    • Promote the region at trade shows
    • Provide site consultant relations

    • Maintain economic development partnerships with Sumter Economic Development Board, The City of Sumter and regional Economic Development partners.
    • Advertising the region in trade publications
    • Present public and private property solutions (land and/or buildings)
    • Manage available commercial real estate database and realtor relations
    • Provide assessments of area's workforce
    • Present recommended incentives (payment in lieu of taxes, tax increment financing) to Industrial Development Boards, The Development Corporation, and local legislative bodies
    • Provide business referrals
    • Assist with groundbreaking events
    • Provide research/demographic information
    • Provide community orientation

    • Provide marketing opportunities
