    Small Business Council

    Chair: David Sanders
    Staff: Maureen Dunton

    To build relationships with existing Chamber investors, generate new and monitor existing benefits to satisfy member needs while providing new opportunities to assist member businesses growth and support the small business community. The Chamber’s Minority Business Outreach Council is included in the Small Business Division.  

    Government Relations

    Chair:
    Staff: Chris Hardy

    To advocate the position of business in the strategic areas of our community at the local, state and federal levels through a web-based informative web site developed for the Chamber by the United States Chamber of Commerce. Develop annual legislative priorities in efforts with the Chamber’s membership and Board of Directors.

     

    Education/Workforce Development

    Chair: Dennis Turner
    Staff: Janel Strieter

    To serve as the Chambers catalyst that sparks the development of initiatives to strengthen partnerships between the business community and our Educational institutions to include Higher, Public and Private to progress education and workforce development.

    Existing Industry

    Chair: Kevin Johnson
    Staff: Nicole Milligan

    To oversee the partnerships between the Chamber and existing industry in the Greater Sumter Area to include Board of Directors site visits while providing a forum for local manufacturing executives to positively address issues of concern, and promote an improved business environment for current and prospective companies. The Chamber’s Industry Association is Included in this division.

    Membership

    Chair: Kim Hatchell
    Staff: Maureen Dunton

    To attract and retain a dynamic, growing membership, thereby allowing the delivery of high quality products and services. Monitor new member recruitment and retention efforts while overseeing the Chamber’s member to member discount program and other Chamber value added benefits. The Chamber’s Public Relations Task Force and Ambassadors are included in the Membership Division.

     

    Leadership Development

    Staff: Chris Hardy

    To create a platform for our members to build relationships, develop professionally, become politically and philanthropically active, and contribute to the economic development of our community through networking events and cultural and community education. The Chamber’s Leadership Sumter, Young Professionals and Leadership for Women programs are included in the Leadership Development Division.

     

    Military Affairs

    Chair: Donnie Hines
    Staff: Nicole Milligan

    To actively engage the military and the business community of the Greater Sumter Area to ensure symbolic and strategic relationships and support. Work with the Sumter Base Defense Committee as advocates for military needs in order to remove obstacles to ensure the success and longevity of Shaw Air Force Base so that it may accomplish its mission.
